PMCID: PMC11000613 TAKE-AWAYS FROM MY EXPERIENCE STARTING OUT IN CLINICAL PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY RESEARCH
In my experience as an Early Career Psychopharmacologist, I learned a few things. 1. Say “Yes” to opportunities – you may end up somewhere other than you planned, but it may be better 2. Be enthusiastic 3. Don’t hesitate to ask – the worst that can happen is they say “No” and that is almost never the response 4. Build momentum with others 5. Learn what you need to know 6. Attend talks peripheral to your area to expand your thinking 7. Join organizations with your interests – and get involved 8. Start mentoring others – you will learn so much And then you become a mid-career and ultimately a senior psychopharmacologist!
