EXCITING NEW FINDINGS FROM CLINICAL TRIALS IN THE TREATMENT OF POST-TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a prevalent and often difficult to treat psychiatric disorder. Over the last several years, the field has seen a modest uptick in the number of novel treatment interventions showing some promise in the treatment of PTSD. These include novel medication combinations, medication-assisted psychotherapy, neuromodulation as stand-alone or adjunct to psychotherapy and other novel devices, such as electroencephalogram-driven neurofeedback. Despite consumer excitement for stellate ganglion block and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, results from studies are mixed. This update provides a comprehensive review of recent findings from clinical trials and highlight ongoing studies in the treatment of PTSD.
Learning Objective 1: The attendee will be able to discuss a range of novel treatments for PTSD that are currently being tested in clinical trials.
Learning Objective 2: The attendee will be able to identify emerging treatments for PTSD that warrant and/or need additional research.
